Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

Q: Is RepsUp really free?
Yes! RepsUp is 100% free with no ads, no subscriptions, and no in-app purchases. All features are available to everyone at no cost. We believe fitness tracking should be accessible to all.
Q: Do I need an Apple Watch to use the app?
No, you don't need an Apple Watch. During setup, you can choose to use the app on iPhone only. The app adapts its features based on your choice. If you have an Apple Watch, you'll get additional features like real-time heart rate monitoring during workouts.
Q: What are the age requirements?
Age requirements vary by region: Users must be 18+ in India, 16+ in EU/UK (or country-specific minimum, not below 13), 14+ in Quebec, and 13+ in the US and most other regions. Users under 18 may need parental consent depending on their location.

Features & Functionality

Q: What's the difference between Calendar and List modes?
Calendar Mode lets you schedule specific workouts on different days of the week, perfect for structured training plans. List Mode maintains a simple, ordered list of workouts you can perform in sequence. You can switch between modes anytime from the Planner screen.
Q: How detailed can my workout plans be?
Very detailed! For each exercise, you can set: 1-20 sets, 1-100 reps per set, rest time from 0-900 seconds (in 15-second increments), weight in kg or lbs (for all sets or customized per set), and notes up to 500 characters.
Q: Can I track different weights for each set?
Yes! You can either set one weight for all sets or customize the weight for each individual set. This is perfect for pyramid training or drop sets.

Apple Watch & Health

Q: How does the Apple Watch sync work?
Your workout plans automatically sync from iPhone to Apple Watch whenever you make changes. The sync uses Bluetooth and works even if devices aren't currently connected - data will sync the next time they connect.
Q: What health data does RepsUp track?
With your permission, RepsUp can track: Heart Rate (read and write to Apple Health), Active Energy/Calories burned, and Workout sessions. You control each permission individually in Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > RepsUp.
Q: Are the health measurements accurate?
Health measurements like heart rate and calories are estimates provided by Apple Watch. They should not be used for medical purposes. Always consult a healthcare professional for medical advice.

Privacy & Data

Q: Where is my data stored?
All your data is stored locally on your iPhone and Apple Watch. We don't have servers, can't access your data, and don't use any cloud storage. You have complete control and ownership of your fitness data.
Q: Can I export my data?
Yes! Go to Settings > Export My Data to download all your workout plans, completed sessions, and preferences as a JSON file. You can save this for backup or use it with other tools.
Q: What happens if I delete the app?
Since all data is stored locally on your device, deleting the app will permanently delete all your workout data. We recommend exporting your data first if you want to keep a backup.

Troubleshooting

Q: My Apple Watch isn't showing my latest workouts
Ensure your iPhone and Apple Watch have a stable Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection. The app syncs automatically when you make changes. If needed, open the app on both devices to force a sync. The watch will request a full sync if it detects no local data on first launch.
Q: The app isn't tracking my heart rate
Check that you've granted Health permissions: Go to Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > RepsUp and enable Heart Rate access. Also ensure your Apple Watch is worn snugly and the sensors are clean.
Q: How do I switch between dark and light mode?
In the Settings tab, under the "PHONE" section, you'll find an Appearance toggle to switch between Dark and Light modes. The app will remember your preference.

Accessibility

Q: Does RepsUp support VoiceOver?
Yes! RepsUp is fully accessible with VoiceOver. UI elements are properly labeled and grouped for better navigation. The app also supports Dynamic Type and adapts layouts for larger font sizes.
